The Journal Transcribed

This is going to be really really long, I have been writing in my new journal while I've been out and about, and with nothing but time in the afternoons, have written quite a bit. I'll put it up in a few posts.

Friday, July 11
Blue Creek Guard Station
6 miles

Hiked up from Mavericks Saddle, not too bad of a hike at all. A few downed trees, cleared what I could. Both river crossing were high enough to require a bit of thought to stay dry.
No seasonal closure sign at junction 1.2 miles before cabin (guard station). Couldn’t find the spring that lies just uphill from cabin on first attempt (so must filter water from Blue Creek). Randy and Mason were right about bugs, mosquitoes very bad. Even when slathered in DEET, with a bug net, still sought refuge in cabin, my present location, messy and full of trail tools, old computer speaks with BATTERIES!!! But frayed wires, bummer. Not sleeping in here, can’t wait to see what the bugs do to me tonight.
Saw 2 hikers who came up same way as me, two women from Seattle. Some dirt bike tracks up to Blue Creek Trail, removed cabin storm shutters and placed bolts on table inside.
