Blue Creek Guard Station
10 miles
Hiked Blue Creek Trail to N. Tommy, then headed up to Klone Peak, unsure of whether or not a trail went to the actual peak, I cross countried up to the ridge and on to the summit proper. Turns out there is a trail. Spoke with same two women contacted yesterday. Ate lunch on a ridiculous rocky rib/spine that jutted out from just below the summit of Klone, a small 3’x3’ platform with a quite a view of the upper Entiat Valley, and quite a significant drop on all sides. Left Klone, hiked over to the Mad River Trail, and headed to Mad Lake. Nice Lake, but Ann Lake on Blue Creek Trail takes the cake. Lots of mosquitoes. Met two more hikers from Seattle that were headed up to mad Lake from Mav’s Saddle. Back in Blue Creek cabin now, hiding from bugs, listening to the wind blow, hopefully it keeps the bugs down tonight. Bugs were fine after 2200 last night (that’s 10 o’clock Jackie- ☺). Bear tracks on Blue Creek Trail, few trees down, still no closure signs to speak of. Had a small fire last night, stood in smoke to get rid of bugs, didn’t really work…
